On a sad day forNew York Yankeesfan, the team's television voice gave a touching tribute to the team's legendary radio voice.
John Sterling, who passed away on May 4 at age 87, was notorious for his uniqueradio calls of Yankees home runsthroughout his 36-year career with the club. So after Aaron Judge homered later that night to put the Yankees ahead 2-0 in the first inning against the Orioles, it was only fitting that a Sterling call be used.
That came courtesy of Michael Kay, who worked with Sterling on the radio for Yankees games before becoming the play-by-play voice on the YES Network. As Judge's homer sailed over the right centerfield wall, he belted out a Sterling call:

"It is high, it is far, it is gone!" Kay exclaimed. "A 'Judgian' blast! Here comes the Judge!"

The Yankees also held a moment of silence for Sterling before the game.
