Man arrested in connection with shooting in restaurant parking lot

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a Baton Rouge man in connection with a shooting in a parking lot of a Prairieville restaurant.

According to APSO, detectives with the APSO Violent Crimes Unit charged 22-year-old Kayla Lucas with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Deputies responded to a shooting outside a restaurant along Perkins Road at around 10 p.m. May 6, per the release.

Deputies found a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his arm, the report continued.

According to the release, investigators alleged that the suspect fired multiple shots at the male's vehicle as he was leaving the property following an altercation.

Detectives, with assistance from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, reportedly executed a search warrant at the suspect's residence.

He will be transferred to the Ascension Parish Jail, per the release.
